Board of Trustees Meeting Minutes
The following is an account of the minutes taken at the Board of Trustees Meeting held on January 24, 2011 at 6:30 P.M.
The following members were present:
Fred Miller- Chairperson
Johnny Secrest-Vice Chairperson
Debbie Richard-Recording Secretary
Pastor Jim Church
Pastor Jim held a prayer to open the Board of Trustees Meeting. Fred Miller was unanimously elected Chairperson, Johnny Secrest as Vice Chairperson, and Debbie Richard re elected as Recording Secretary. Fred Miller, Chairperson read the Book of Discipline of the Board of Trustees as they shall have the supervision, oversight, and care of all real property owned by the local church and of all property and equipment acquired directly by the local church. The board of trustees is encouraged to invest in institutions, companies, corporations, or funds that make a positive contribution toward the realization of the goals outlined in the Social Principles of our Church. The board of trustees shall review annually the adequacy of the property, liability, and crime insurance coverage on church-owned property, buildings, and equipment. Debbie Richard, Recording Secretary read the old business from the last meeting of The Board of Trustees. This meeting was held January 19, 2010.
v Wall in Family Life that leaks has an estimated cost of $15,000 there are no funds available project is on hold at this time.
v Snow Contract; Lemmie’s availability is limited.
v Cleaning contract not signed.
v Cost of light bulbs checked purchased at Lowes.
v The board of trustees shall review annually the adequacy of the property, liability, and insurance coverage. Estimated value of property six million dollars.
v Fred Miller, Chairperson will measure parking lots for snow removal. Bids will be obtained by Brian Woody, Gordon Hall, and any member who has knowledge of someone who removes snow. Removal to include steps and sidewalks. Will be an outside vendor.
v Motion by Gordon Hall to get a signed contract for snow removal. Johnny Secrest seconds the motion. Motion unanimously passed.
v Will obtain a signed contract by the cleaning service.
v Discussion to review contracts on a regular basis rotating yearly with lawn care, cleaning service, and snow removal.

v Water problem; drain is not sufficient between the education building and the sanctuary; water gets in the classroom.
v Ceiling leak in parlor; Johnny Secrest, Vice Chairperson will replace ceiling tile to see if it leaks anymore.
v Old fellowship hall needs painting; paint is flaking; Pastor Jim will check with Jamie on painting this.
v Roof on educational building leaks at both ends; Need to get estimates to give to the Administrative Counsel.
v Old parking lot needs to be paved.
v Light at sign is burnt out; Bruce Loyer will replace as you can’t see the sign on Hwy 16. Light downstairs burnt out also light in stairwell Brue Loyer will replace these light bulbs also.
v Not in best interest of the church to purchase any of the three houses available for sale.
v Copper gutter removal discussed unsure whether gutters are copper are not need to find out.
v Replace Dogwood tree in front of Sanctuary as limb broke off and is an eyesore. Fred Miller, Chairperson will bring in pictures of different trees for replacement.
v Maple tree needs to be taken down has grown too large; will check with the Methodist ladies as they purchased tree.
v Discussion on a work day for the Methodist Men to replace mulch, etc. Will take place sometime in March.
v Meeting on Monday, February 28, 2011, at 6:30 pm of Board of Trustees scheduled.
