The ARK (Children’s Church)
Children ages 3-5th grade are invited to join The ARK Rangers each Sunday during the 10:30 worship service. The children begin worship in the sanctuary with the adults. After the opening hymn, the children gather and proceed to the Chapel for their own worship time, and then have music, lessons, and games designed just for kids! Each lesson is centered around a Bible verse or Biblical principle, and the children practice the Books of the Bible, the Lord’s Prayer, communion, and tithing.
Every Fourth Sunday
Every fourth Sunday, the children present the Welcome, Prayer, and Meet and Greet in our (10:30 a.m.) Traditional Worship Service. They also perform a song and present their beautiful voices and love for the Lord!
Each church season, the children present a musical to show off their talents of singing, dancing, and love for Christ! These performances are usually presented during the (10:30 a.m.) Combined Worship Service so that the entire congregation can see their hard work!
Vacation Bible School
Every summer, children are invited to a week of Vacation Bible School, with lessons, songs, games, and crafts. Dinner is served each night at 5:30, and the activities begin at 6. The children end the week with a program to show their parents what they have learned through out their time at Abernethy.
Each year at the end of October, the children and adults gather for a time of games, crafts, and learning. Dinner is provided, costumes are welcome, and treats are abundant!
Just before Christmas, the children gather in their pajamas and with their favorite pillow or stuffed animal to watch the movie “The Polar Express.” A light breakfast is served and crafts are made for children to keep or to give to others. A visit from a very special Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus ends the morning!
